Engines are on at the South Garda Karting circuit in Lonato for the Trofeo delle Industrie, the event organized by Parma Motorsport, that is celebrating the historic record of the 46th edition with an entry list featuring 248 verified drivers coming from 32 different nations to compete in KZ2, 60 Mini, OK, OK-Junior and Iame X30 Senior.
The day of Friday October 27th has been devoted to free practice, while the protagonists of this great event will challenge each other in qualifying and heats on Saturday with the purpose of narrowing down the list of drivers competing in Prefinals and Finals on Sunday October 29th. The final stages will be covered live through the web Live Streaming at www.trofeodelleindustrie.it and racing.southgardakarting.it
The first timing indications have so far highlighted the speed of the winner of last year’s edition Riccardo Longhi (BirelArt-TM-Vega), who posted the quickest time in 45.662s. The Italian will certainly have to face a strong set of rivals, among which team mate Manuel Cozzaglio, GP3 driver Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), former European Champion Fabian Federer (CRG-TM-Vega), Mirko Torsellini (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega) and several others.
The quickest of OK today has been the British driver Christopher Lulham (Exprit-TM-Vega), who completed his best loop in 46.419s. The protagonist of international karting was followed by Rosso Andrea, who is at the debut on CRG and seemed to be at ease since the beginning.
The Brit Kai Askey (FA Alonso-Vortex-Vega) has been the quickest in OK-Junior with a best lap completed in 47.557s. Several drivers are within a handful of tenths though, starting from his team mate and fresh World Champion Dexter Patterson and their team mate from Barbados Zane Maloney. Luca Bosco (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) and the Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto (CRG-Parilla.-Vega) were also very quick.
The competition is high as usual among the 72 drivers of 60 Mini. The Norwegian Martinius Stenshorme (Parolin-TM-Vega) put in the fastest lap in 53.365s, but the young Russian Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart-TM-Vega), who won the absolute Trophy last year, is also among the quickest.
Cristian Comanducci has been shining in Iame X30 instead, as he put in a best lap of 48.775s, while Vittorio Maria Russo was only 0.1s shy of him, also on Tony Kart-Iame-Komet.
