The second and closing round of the European KZ and KZ2 Championship will take place from July 13th to 15th at the South Garda Karting circuit in a joint event with the CIK-FIA Academy Trophy.
Lonato del Garda (Brescia, Italy). The much awaited moment of the CIK-FIA European Championship has come. The grand finale that will award the European title in KZ and KZ2 will take place from Friday July 13th to Sunday July 15th in Lonato.
Alongside the 29 professional drivers of KZ and the 92 emerging talents of KZ2, the program at South Garda Karting will also include 51 drivers entered in the Academy Trophy coming from 40 countries and selected by the national federations.
The strongest champions on the International scene will get on track for this second and decisive round that follows the opener held in France at Salbris. This event will relaunch the South Garda Karting circuit to the orbit of the CIK-FIA races after the improvements to the circuit that now features a much more spectacular layout measuring 1.200 meters.
In KZ, the French Jeremy Iglesias is currently leading the classification on Formula K, but he is only one point clear of 2016 World Champion Jorrit Pex (CRG). The multiple-times European and World Champion Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart) and reigning World and European Champion Paolo De Conto (CRG) follow. Such an exciting challenge might also have a surprising finale with new protagonists coming to the fore.
In KZ2, after the first round of Salbris, the French Adrien Renaudin (Sodikart) is leading at 35 points, while fellow countrymen Pierre Loubere (Praga) and Hubert Petit (Sodikart) follow respectively at 27 and 25. The three Italians Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart), Giacomo Pollini (Formula K) and Riccardo Longhi (BirelArt) chase them, but they still have the chance to climb the charts.
The Academy Trophy is currently led by the French Jose Maria Navalon Boya, who proceeds the Belgian Kobe Pauwels and the French Sami Meguetounif. The best Italian so far is Federico Albanese in 11th place.
