The fifth and closing round of the prestigious German Championship DKM has kicked off in Lonato with 170 drivers on track. The titles of the four grades are still up for grabs.
Lonato del Garda (Brescia, Italy). The premiere of the German Championship DKM at the South Garda Karting of Lonato has begun with a great participation and a lot of spectacle on track, as 170 racers are all set to challenge each other in this important race that will decide all the titles.
The Italian Fabian Federer (CRG-TM-Vega) has been particularly quick in the KZ2 qualifying on Saturday and posted the fastest time in 45.382s, but in the heats the French Jeremy Iglesias (Formula K-TM-Vega) got the most of a DNF suffered by Federer and claimed two wins, securing the pole position for the first final to be held on Saturday morning. Jorrit Pex (CRG-TM-Vega) from Holland has also displayed a good shape. The current classification leader already won 5 DKM titles, and will get off from the front row after taking P2 at the end of the heats. Luca Corberi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) was involved in a spectacular incident at the start of one of the heats of KZ2. He did not suffer any injuries though, despite rolling over.
The German Alexander Schmitz (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) was also among the quickest and stands third after the heats. He leads the Dutch Martijn Kremers (BirelArt-TM-Vega), William Lanzeni (Ricciardo-TM-Vega) and Alessandro Giardelli (CRG-TM-Vega). Despite taking a victory, Federer had to pay for a DNF with the 18th provisional position.
The two main title contenders of OK were the quickest today: the German David Schumacher (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) – second in the classification, is in fact on top after the heats. The Norwegian Dennis Hauger (CRG-Iame-Vega) is second at the end of the heats, but he definitely enjoys a good margin on top of the classification. The other top positions went to the Dane Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), the German Paavo Tonteri (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), the Spaniard Kilian Meyer (CRG-Iame-Vega) and the Swede David Rozenfeld (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) that follow the leading duo in the order.
In OK-Junior, the French Hadrien David (Zanardi-Iame-Vega) took the liberty of being on top at the end of the heats granting himself a pole position start in the first final. Luca Bosco (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) is currently second, while the Dutch classification leader Kas Haverkort (CRG-Iame-Vega) is third despite having taken the pole position in qualifying. The German Hugo Sasse (CRG-Iame-Vega) is second in the classification, just one point shy of Haverkort, and is currently fifth after the heats.
In KZ2 Cup, Stefano De Vecchi (Formula K-Vortex-Vega) was on top at the end of the heats after securing also the pole position in qualifying. The second place is currently held by the Austrian David Detmers (Parolin-TM-Vega), who proceeds the French Emilien Denner (Kalì Kart-TM-Vega) after several very nice battles. Classification leader Julian Muller (Mach1-TM-Vega) from Germany is currently ninth.
