The Spring Trophy has welcomed a great drivers presence in the first round that is about to get underway in Lonato on March 18th. Historic karts at the start too. Debut for the Spanish driver Marta Garcia in KZ2.
About 200 drivers are all set to challenge each other in the Spring Trophy in Lonato. The traditional early season race at the South Garda Karting circuit is heading towards another prestigious participation record in the first of the two rounds of its 29th edition.
National categories, X30 and historic karts KFA will be at the start of the first round scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday March 18th. Presence figures are already quite high and look promising for the final round to be held in a week time on March 25th, when a lot of Rok Cup drivers are also awaited for their North Area championship.
The historic karts category that will contest the Nations Cup KFA 100cc Series looks particularly interesting. Drivers coming from all over Italy and abroad will challenge each other behind the wheel of karts built before year 2000. This year, the KFA Series will feature rounds in Jesolo, Castelletto before returning to Lonato, in a joint event with the Autumn Trophy.
In the national categories, to be mentioned is the presence of the young Spanish driver Marta Garcia on CKR-Tm. She won the Academy CIK-FIA 2015 and competed in Formula 4 in the past two years, and now she is back to karting in a particularly competitive category like KZ2, eying the European and World Championships.
A lot of strong drivers put their name forward for the win in KZ2. Among these, Massimo Dante on Maranello-Tm already won the Spring Trophy three times in 2011, 2012 and 2015. The KZ2 Trophy was won by the French Nicolas Gonzales last year, while Enrico Bernardotto secured it in 2016. The other national categories on track are Entry Level, 60 Mini and OK-Junior.
More than half of the entered drivers will take part in the Iame X30 Trophy that will contest the first round of its National Trophy in Lonato. The over 120 drivers on track set the historic presence record for this constantly uprising category.
After free practice held on Saturday March 17th, the program schedules the end of Sporting Scrutineering for Sunday March 18th and then, from 8:00AM warm-up, qualifying practice, heats, Prefinals and Finals.
